Join our Mission community as we come together to help all those families and individuals that were negatively impacted and displaced by last week’s devastating fires. There are different ways in which you can help the families of the Eaton fire through one, or all of these ways.

The first Mass will be at St. Monica Church in Santa Monica at 12:10 p.m. in English and the second bilingual Mass will be at Mission San Gabriel in the Chapel of the Annunciation at 6 p.m. Both Masses will be livestreamed on the @LACatholics social channels and at a special webpage for updates and resources on the fires at this link:https://lacatholics.org/california-fires/.

Christ Jesus died on the Cross to redeem humankind, to save us from our sins because of his love for us. He suffered an indescribable end, recalled by the Church on Good Friday of Holy Week. One may meditate on the Passion of Christ by reflecting on his Seven Words from the Cross. Credo Catholic Choir performs a musical rendition, by Knut Nystedt, with a narrator chanting the Gospel of Mark, and the choir singing Christ's words. The motets that are interspersed between each movement bring an added dimension to the significance of Jesus' words to us in His final suffering upon the cross.
One year after the tragic loss of our beloved Bishop David O'Connell, he is remembered as "A man of the people. An advocate for the forgotten. Funny. Outspoken. A peacemaker." We share this article about Bishop Dave and remember his compassionate and beautiful soul.
As we slowly return to pre-COVID Eucharistic celebrations, we need Ushers (Ladies…it’s not just a man’s ministry), Lectors, Eucharistic Ministers, and Altar Servers. Training will be provided. We are especially in need of Ushers for the 5:30 pm Mass on Saturday and the 8:30 am and 1:00 pm Masses on Sunday. Please e-mail Fr. John Molyneux at [email protected] or call the Rectory office (626-457-3035.)
As certain restrictions are lifted and parishes more fully reopen, our priority, as it has been throughout this pandemic, is our need to care for and protect one another. The Archdiocese of Los Angeles has asked that all parishes and Pastors implement the new guidelines with prudence, using sensible public health precautions, and with the safety and wellbeing of their parishioners in mind. These new guidelines, effective June 15, 2021, and replace all previous guidelines established by the Archdiocese.
On behalf of the entire Mission San Gabriel community and the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, I want to first express my gratitude to all of the first responders and agencies who worked to respond and investigate the devastating fire at the Mission.
